When I was choosing my higher education options during my A-levels, I applied to five Universities in the midlands, with Loughborough being one of my top choices. I received a conditional offer from Loughborough but ultimately decided to focus on two Universities closer to home, so I didn’t accept the offer at that time.

After receiving my A-level results, I had to reassess my options since I didn’t receive offers for my first-choice degrees. While I was grateful to receive offers from two other Universities, I decided not to accept them as their courses didn’t align as well with my course preferences.

Prior to the Clearing process, I was already familiar with the entry requirements, having researched and compared Universities through the UCAS website and by checking University ranking websites. I also gathered insights from my higher education connections in order to make an informed decision. Based on my prior research, I knew that Loughborough University was where I wanted to study. So, just two minutes after the A-level grades were released, I contacted Loughborough through Clearing.

Loughborough University was incredibly supportive, especially when I explained that I had previously received a conditional offer from them and so they offered me a place on the Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree. Due to the need to make a quick decision during Clearing, Loughborough gave me 48 hours to consider whether I wanted to accept the offer. This meant I was able to attend a Visit day, which allowed me to experience the campus first-hand and confirm that Loughborough was the right choice for me.

My experience arranging accommodation after securing my place through Clearing was seamless. From browsing the website to receiving my keys, the entire process exceeded my expectations. It was well-organised and I was happy to be offered the accommodation I had applied for. I was also reassured to learn that Loughborough guarantees an accommodation offer for students who accept a place through Clearing, which made the process even more stress-free as I knew I would receive some accommodation, even if it was not my first-choice option.
