Dr Ciara Dwyer

Dr Ciara Dwyer is a postdoctoral fellow at Lund University, Sweden, which is ranked in the top 100 universities globally. Ciara is an ecologist whose research spans plant and pollinator ecology, hydrology, and policy. This expertise complements the Geography and Environment department's research strengths in understanding and managing environmental change.

In her current research Ciara is working with an international team from 25 partners to identify the drivers of pollinator decline across Europe, and the policy and management options for mitigating this decline (https://www.safeguard.biozentrum.uni-wuerzburg.de/Default.aspx). She is also co-principal investigator with Dr Jonathan Millett (Loughborough University) for two long-term experiments at Ainsdale Sand Dunes National Nature Reserve. These experiments are part of UK and global research networks: ECT (https://www.ecologicalcontinuitytrust.org/ainsdale-dune-slacks), the Disturbance and Resources Across Global Grasslands (DRAGNet) (https://dragnetglobal.weebly.com/) and the Nutrient Network: A Global Research Cooperative (NutNet) (https://nutnet.org/).

Previously, she was awarded a UKRI fellowship at the UK Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology (POST). Ciara is a Trustee for the British Ecological Society which is the oldest ecological learned society in the world (https://www.britishecologicalsociety.org/about/our-teams/). She is chair of the BES Early Career Working Group, and co-chair of the Socioeconomic Equality and Diversity (SEED) Network.
