Sailing and Windsurfing
Sailing and Windsurfing at Loughborough caters for all abilities from complete beginners to experienced sailors, so don’t hesitate to join us.
Athletic Union Club
Sailing involves a variety of competitive formats that are sanctioned by different sailing federations and clubs. Racing disciplines include matches within a fleet, between a pair or among teams and there are also additional competitions that include setting speed records. Racing formats include both closed courses and point-to-point contests. These may take place in sheltered waters, on the coast or in the open ocean.
Windsurfing is a water sport that combines elements of both surfing and sailing. There are many categories you can compete in windsurfing, some of these include: Olympic Windsurfing, Slalom, Big Air, and Freestyle.
Our club is based at Burton Sailing Club on Foremark Reservoir, and we provide regular opportunities for you to sail and windsurf. We offer introductory tuition including RYA levels 1 and 2 as well as team racing, so there is something for every ability and experience level.
Throughout the year, we compete in a number of team racing events all across the country and the BUCS championships, offering great sailing and social opportunities. We also compete and host our own event called the Lemming.
