Notice of works: Closure of University Road outside Schofield and Haslegrave Buildings (6-24 May)

Work to install a new transformer to serve the Haslegrave Building will require new cables to be installed underground from Schofield Sub Station 21 up to the Haslegrave Generator House located on Car Park 23a.

Excavation work has already started on Car Park 23a and outside of the Schofield Sub Station, but the next phase of work requires the closure of University Road between the Schofield and Haslegrave Buildings to allow the trenches to be installed for the cabling.

The closure will start at the Tee Junction (at the bottom of University Road), where all vehicular traffic will be diverted along Magaret Keay Road in front of Schofield Building, around the back of the Geography Building and up to the crossroads where the Bridgeman Building is located. Temporary traffic lights will be set up between the Geography Building and Car Park 5 due to the width of the road, so buses and lorries can pass. We ask drivers to be considerate and patient with this diversion.

Please note access to the Cricket Centre and Car Park 19 will remain open, and pedestrian and disabled access will be maintained throughout the works.

Works will start on Monday 6 May with completion expected Friday 24 May 2024.
