Loughborough London Students

LU Arts can help you get involved in the arts and doing something creative outside of your studies.

LU Arts provides a range of creative opportunities for London students. These activities, whether it be workshops, performances or competitions, not only enable you to learn new skills and meet new friends but also support your wellbeing and employability.

Many aspects of our programme are open to London students as well as those based on our East Midlands campus. We've picked out some of the key opportunities that are open to you on this page so you can quickly and easily discover more.

Our varied events programme includes online events such as artist talks, discussions and special screenings. Details of any forthcoming events can be found on the Loughborough London events page as well as our website; most are free, although booking may be required.

In addition to any events or opportunities that we offer, you'll find that East London is well served for arts venue and organisations. We've produced an arts map and guide to help you make the most of the cultural opportunities on your doorstep. Printed copies are available from reception and handed out during induction week.

Pop-up Maker Space

Take a break and get creative at our free lunchtime drop-ins at the London campus!

Join us at our regular Pop-up Maker Space sessions, with quick and simple creative activities suitable for all.  Everyone knows that it’s good to take a break from your desk or screens for a short while, and doing something creative can be great for your wellbeing. Whether you’ve got 15mins or an hour, there’s something you can make or do in the time you have.

Each Pop-up session has a different focus, which is self-led with simple instructions to follow if needed. In addition to this, there are basic art materials available at every Pop-up session for you to use, including paper, paints, origami and colouring sheets.

A student ambassador will be on hand to welcome you and chat!

These regular sessions take place on the second Thursday of each 4-week teaching block. Visit our 'What's on' page for details of upcoming sessions and keep an eye out for posters around the London campus.

London Arts Map

We’ve created a London Arts Map to help you discover the incredible arts and culture scene around our campus. Whether you’re a student, staff member, or just exploring the city, this guide will connect you to creative spaces, events, and opportunities nearby.

We selected Graphic Design graduate Freya Neame as the illustrator for our arts map. Freya impressed us with her unique creative vision and strong portfolio. As part of this exciting commission, she worked closely with ourselves and Loughborough University London staff to research and highlight the vibrant cultural spots across the local area.

Where to get your copy?
Pick up a free map from campus reception or on Floor 4 at Loughborough University London from w/c 24 February.
