Research and expertise

I am a Civil Engineer with research expertise in sustainable cementitious materials and advanced production methods. My research focuses on developing innovative cement-based materials combined with novel manufacturing techniques that reduce embodied carbon and cost, while enhancing mechanical performance, durability, and long-term sustainability.

I specialise in ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC), self-healing cementitious systems, and engineered composite materials. My research integrates advanced production methods, including static mixing systems, sprayed concrete technologies, and 3D-printed cementitious materials, to drive more responsible construction technologies that support inclusive, safe, and sustainable construction practices.

Current research activity

  • Cementing Synergy: Engineered Graded Concrete for Sustainable Mass Production

Recently completed research projects

  • Regenerative 3D Printed Cementitious Skins for Building Components (Re3DSkin)
  • Sprayed Ultra-High-Performance Cementitious Sandwich Panels for Sustainable Structural Applications, in Collaboration with Specwall
  • A1 Fire-Rated Lightweight Sandwich Panels, in Collaboration with Specwall

Profile

I am a Lecturer in Construction Materials and Engineering at Loughborough University, combining research and teaching to advance sustainable construction technologies and deliver meaningful real-world impact.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from Nottingham Trent University. In 2020, I joined Loughborough University to undertake a PhD, focusing on the development of sprayed ultra-high-performance cementitious sandwich panels for sustainable structural applications, with an emphasis on performance, scalability, and sustainability.

Following my PhD completion, I continued at Loughborough University as a Research Associate, developing regenerative 3D-printed cementitious skins (Re3DSkin) to enhance durability and sustainability. I was subsequently appointed as a Vice-Chancellor’s Independent Research Fellow, leading research on engineered graded concrete for sustainable mass production.
