I graduated and worked as a civil engineer in Trinidad in 1984. My projects included the construction of multi-site, high density housing developments and infrastructure design for an industrial park. In 1987 I won a British Council scholarship to undertake a MSc in Construction Management in Loughborough University. I commenced working at Loughborough University as a Teaching Assistant in 1989 and completed my PhD whilst working as a lecturer.
I have been involved in a range of research projects but my main interest but in recent years I have focused on the role of knowledge management within construction enterprises, lessons learned from unsuccessful projects, performance management and measurement and the stakeholder involvement in in Public Private Partnerships.
With respect to teaching, I have been Admissions Tutor for our MSc programmes in Construction Management, Programme Director and Director of Postgraduate Studies. In 2014 I became Associate Dean (Teaching). Since then my major responsibilities have been to improve Learning and Teaching at both a School and University Leve for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. In that role I am part of several committees and working groups addressing key aspects of our students’ experiences e.g. such as University Learning and Teaching, Digital Strategy Working Group, Learning Environments Working Group, Attendance Monitoring Group, Mobile App Project Management Board, Personal Best, Racial Equality Action Group, etc. I have also chaired various university-wide groups including the Coursework Scheduling Group and the IT Lab Governance group.
