About the lecturer
Professor Danish Malik is an internationally renowned expert in the development of scalable manufacturing platforms for next-generation biotherapeutics including bacteriophages, bacteriocins, endolysins and virus-like particles (VLPs). His expertise spans their production, micro- and nano-encapsulation as well as their targeted delivery.
He completed his BEng Chemical Engineering at the University and, under the supervision of Professor Michael Streat, achieved his PhD in Bioprocess Engineering, graduating in 1999. Four years later, he secured his lectureship with the Chemical Engineering department.
His research focuses on bacteriophage manufacturing, formulation and delivery for the development of bacteriophage therapies with a strong translational emphasis. He works closely with international research groups and phage biotechnology companies, supporting early stage preclinical and clinical development of phage therapeutics.
