Expressions of interest sought for co-opted staff membership of Human Resources Committee (HRC)

Hazlerigg Building

The University is seeking expressions of interest from colleagues who would like to serve as a co-opted member of the Human Resources Committee (HRC) for a three-year term.

Human Resources Committee (HRC) plays a key role in supporting the University's People and Culture agenda. The Committee provides assurance to Senate and Council on the effectiveness of the University's people operations, oversees the development and delivery of the People and Culture Strategy, and considers governance matters relating to recruitment, reward, retention, motivation and development of staff. It also helps ensure that HR and organisational development practices align with the University's commitments to equity, diversity and inclusion.

We are keen to receive expressions of interest from colleagues working in both academic and professional services roles, and welcome applications from individuals with a broad range of experiences, perspectives and expertise who are interested in contributing to discussions on strategic people and culture related matters. We encourage expressions of interest from colleagues from all backgrounds and are committed to ensuring a diversity of voices and experiences are represented within the Committee.

Co-opted members are expected to:

  1. Attend three committee meetings per year
  2. Read committee papers in advance of meetings
  3. Come prepared to actively contribute to discussions and share their thoughts, insights and opinions
  4. Commit to serving for the full three-year term where possible

The meeting dates for the 2026/27 academic year are:

  1. 29 September 2026, 10am to 12pm
  2. 27 January 2027, 10am to 12pm
  3. 19 May 2027, 10am to 12pm

If you would like to be considered, please submit an expression of interest of no more than 250 words outlining your interest in the role, any relevant experience, and the perspective you would bring to the Committee.

Expressions of interest should be sent to Amanda Silverwood via email a.silverwood@lboro.ac.uk by 7 September 2026.

Applications will be considered by Richard Taylor, Chief Operating Officer and Chair of the Human Resources Committee.
