The multi-sport event is designed to give young athletes an educational experience and a taste of what it is like to take part in a major multi-sport competition.
Staff will be able to spectate by purchasing tickets to all outdoor and indoor events (BMX and Triathlon are free to attend). More details, including schedules, tickets and online streaming information, are available on the School Games website.
There will be significant activity on campus in advance of, during and after the event so campus users should be aware of the following information:
Car park closures
- Car Park 1: 3–6 September (managed only)
- Car Park 3: 31 August–6 September
- Car Park 3a: 2–6 September
- Car Park 7: 2–6 September
- Car Park 9: 5 September (road closure in place plus change in access and egress)
- Car Park 10: 2–6 September
- Car Park 12: 31 August–6 September
- Car Park 18: 28 August–8 September
- Car Park 19: 3–5 September
- Car Park 20: 29 August–7 September
- Athletics Car Park (one side): 2–7 September
- EAC/Hockey: 31 August–7 September
- Swimming Pool Car Park: 30 August–6 September from the crossing onwards and on 1 and 6 September the whole car park will be closed
- Haslegrave (right of entrance): 2–6 September
- Haslegrave (left of entrance): 29 August–7 September
- Towers Way (barrier and rugby rubber crumb): 3–6 September
- Netball/Badminton Centre: 31 August–7 September
- Bays opposite the Design School: 4–5 September
- Loughborough Students’ Union Car Park: 3–5 September
Road closures
3 September:
- 4pm - Union Way and Rutland Way
- 6pm - University Road (Ball Park to Margaret Keay Road)
- 4pm–7pm - managed access/exit between Union Way and Rutland Way
- 7pm–9.30pm - full lockdown of road closures above
- 9.30pm approximately - roads re-open
5 September:
- 3pm - start putting closures in place
- 3.30pm – the following roads are closed:
- from East Park Security Barrier
- junction of Margaret Keay Road and University Road
- junction of Towers Way and East Link Road
- junction adjacent to Car Park 9 entrance
- entrance onto campus behind James France (Car Park 20)
- Union Way and Rutland Way
- 9pm approximately - roads re-open
Please note that there will be windows during the road closure period when vehicles will be able to exit the circuit under the direction of the Event Control team.
Other traffic management measures outside closure times
- 1 September: Closure in place from East Link Road along Towers Way to University Road due to games set up
- 3 September: One-way system in place throughout the day to assist arrivals
- 4 September: Closure in place from East Link Road along Towers Way to University Road
- 5 September: Closure in place from East Link Road along Towers Way to University Road
- 6 September: Closure in place from East Link Road along Towers Way to University Road until 12pm when it becomes a one-way system to assist departures
Please be aware that there will be a PA system in use for commentary and presentations throughout the period of the School Games, which will be present at many of the sport facilities and may produce noise.
