This forms part of the University’s investment to upgrade its Microsoft 365 licencing model from Microsoft 365 A3 to Microsoft 365 A5. The licence migration will take place between 18 August and 31 August 2026.
Please note that this does not apply to student or Doctoral Researcher accounts.
How will this impact me?
Following migration, staff currently assigned an A3 licence will be upgraded to the A5 licence automatically. This will include access to Power BI Pro, alongside enhanced security and compliance features to help protect staff and students.
Action required
No action is required. However, please continue to follow existing guidance on managing information stored in Microsoft 365 and regularly review content to ensure data is retained only where there is a legitimate business need. You can read the storage reduction guidance on the IT Services webpage.
No disruption is anticipated during the licence migration. If you experience any issues, please sign out of Microsoft 365 and sign back in again. Guidance is available on the Microsoft Support pages.
