Volunteer with Loughborough Community Kitchen

Staff and students are invited to volunteer with Loughborough Community Kitchen, helping to provide a warm meal and welcoming environment for local people.

Volunteering takes place every other Sunday, starting from the first Sunday of each month. Volunteers meet at 10.30am at the United Reformed Church on Frederick Street, Loughborough, for a short briefing before helping to set up the kitchen and dining area.

Together, the volunteers prepare a home-cooked meal and a selection of puddings, which are then served to guests.

As well as preparing and serving food, volunteers help by chatting with guests and creating a warm, welcoming environment for everyone who attends. The kitchen has also recently introduced board games, giving volunteers another opportunity to spend time with guests and help build a sense of community.

At the end of the session, everyone works together to tidy up and ensure all areas are cleaned in line with food hygiene standards.

The kitchen is typically open from 10.30am to 3pm, with volunteering opportunities available throughout the year. No previous experience is required as all volunteers are supported by a trustee or kitchen leader.

If you would like to volunteer, please email communitykitchenlboro@outlook.com

Volunteering is a valuable way to provide support to local organisations and University staff are eligible to apply for up to one working day per year to undertake approved volunteer work through the Employer Supported Volunteering (ESV) scheme.
