Discover creativity of resident artists at the ‘Catalogue: AA2A and Postgraduate Showcase’ exhibition

The current exhibition in Martin Hall Exhibition Space features eight artists who have been in residence within Loughborough University’s Fine Art programme during 2025/26.

It brings together Chiara Dellerba, Freddy Waterfield, Jenny Marshall, and Sue Clegg, selected to take part in the national Artists Access to Art Colleges (AA2A) scheme, with Charlotte Shearman-Smith, Emily Hought, Olivia Davis, and Mya Kelley, graduates from our 2024/25 Fine Art programme.

During their time at Loughborough, the artists have worked variously within print, ceramics, 3D design and metal and have interacted with a multitude of practitioners and researchers. They have collaboratively designed this exhibition to mark the end of their residencies and as part of a process of reflection on the work they have produced and where it might lead them in the future. The display showcases their diverse projects, ongoing since October 2025.

Charlotte, Emily, Olivia, and Mya have rejoined the Fine Art studios this year, as participants in our professional development programme, designed to support early career artists in developing their art practice and critical skills, as they establish themselves independently.

Since 2020, the University has worked in partnership with the Artists Futures Fund (AFF, formerly the Artists’ Benevolent Fund) to award Artist Breakthrough Fellowship bursaries to emerging visual artists who are facing economic, social, cultural or health barriers that would otherwise prevent them from developing their creative practice and advancing their futures.

Chiara, Freddy, Jenny, and Sue have become part of the Fine Art community through our partnership with AA2A, a scheme which provides artists and designers with access to workshops, equipment and expertise in host universities and colleges across the UK, offering them the opportunity to develop their work by undertaking a period of research or realising a project. It also benefits students by supporting interaction with practising artists and providing them with information on self-employment, bridging the gap between studying and building a creative career. It is funded by Arts Council England and the host institutions.

Throughout their residencies, the artists have explored new ideas, developed their creative practices and produced a diverse range of projects, now on display as part of this end-of-residency showcase.

The artists will be in residence until the end of June.

The exhibition is open to all until 1 July, 12pm–2pm on weekdays, in the Martin Hall Exhibition Space.
