Siân and Steve will assume the role on Council from 1 August 2026 and the term of office for three years until 31 July 2029.

Council is the governing body of the University and is responsible for its strategic direction and overall governance. The membership of Council is drawn from lay members external to the University (the majority), members of staff and representatives appointed by the Students’ Union.
In addition to the two new staff members, Council has elected non-academic professional services member (currently held by Julie Turner) and two academic staff members who are members of Senate (currently held by Professor Justin Waring and Dr Karen Blay).
