The transition will allow us to make better use of the space for meetings, hospitality, celebrations, EDI events and larger group bookings.
Walk-in guests
The hot food counter in the Village Bar will no longer operate as a retail food and beverage outlet.
Guests can continue to purchase food and drinks from Elvyn Dining Hall and are welcome to use the Village Bar seating area, subject to availability and where no private event is taking place.
Hospitality bookings
Hospitality bookings will continue to be available through Delivered Services.
For hospitality bookings:
- The Village Bar team will reserve and set up tables within the hospitality area.
- Barista-style hot drinks, soft drinks and refreshments will be available.
- Menus and event packages will be shared as part of the booking process.
- Food will normally be served as a hot buffet based on the selected menu.
Bookings for 10 or more guests
For hospitality bookings of 10 or more guests, food will be served from chafing dishes within the hospitality area. To maximise capacity and make efficient use of the venue, the hospitality space may be shared with other bookings where appropriate.
This approach will provide a more suitable experience for larger groups in dedicated space.
Special events
The Village Bar will continue to host a variety of events, including:
- sit-down dinners;
- afternoon teas;
- hot buffet events;
- street food events;
- canapé receptions;
- team celebrations and networking events.
The venue will also be used for themed and cultural events throughout the year, including Diwali, Eid, Lunar New Year and other celebrations.
As a dedicated events space, the Village Bar will provide a welcoming environment for colleagues, visitors, partners, students and community groups, while also offering an excellent venue to recognise and celebrate team achievements.
Evening events and alcohol
Alcohol will continue to be available for evening events, with draught and bottled beverages provided where required.
