Expand your studies by considering a postgraduate degree at Loughborough

If you’re in your final year and starting to think about next steps, you might have considered postgraduate studies as one of your options.

We understand there’s a lot of things to think about when making such an important life decision, which is why we’ve compiled some information below to help you decide whether it’s the right next step for you.  

Why should I consider postgraduate studies?  

Postgraduate studies might be for you if: 

  • You’ve loved your time as an undergraduate at Loughborough University and don’t feel ready to leave academia 
  • You want to specialise further in your field 
  • Your career aspirations have changed since starting your undergraduate degree and you want a change. Postgraduate study gives you that flexibility to try something new.  

Tuition fees, loans and scholarships 

For the 2027-28 academic year, our full-time degrees start from £14,000 for UK students and £31,750 for International students.  

Whilst that may sound daunting, a variety of loan options are available – just like with your undergraduate studies – including the Government’s Postgraduate Master’s Loan which can help with course fees and living costs during your studies.  

As an existing Loughborough student, you’ll also receive an alumni discount of 10% for master’s degrees and 20% for postdoctoral studies.

We offer over 100 different master’s degrees across a wide range of subject areas. Many of these offer a September or January start, as well as full-time and part-time options, too.

  • Speak to current postgraduate students if you can to get a first-hand experience of what life is like studying a master’s or undertaking a postdoctorate.
