Colleagues timetabled to teach in these spaces from September are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the new locations and facilities ahead of the start of term.
West Park:
Keith Green Teaching Hub
The former Keith Green Building (adjacent to Burleigh Court) has been transformed into the new Keith Green Teaching Hub, providing six modern flexible teaching rooms with capacities ranging from 30 to 80 students:
- Ground floor: KGT003, KGT004, KGT005
- First floor: KGT101, KGT102, KGT103
In addition, KGT001 and KGT002 have been repurposed as study and group breakout spaces for student use, enhancing informal learning opportunities within the building.
Sir David Davies
Two large flexible teaching rooms have been created by refurbishment of the former Architecture studios:
- DAV019 (capacity 110)
- DAV024 (capacity 100)
Central Park:
James France D-Block and WAV056
Three new flexible teaching spaces have been created, each accommodating approximately 30 students:
- D003a and D003b, replacing a Student Learning Zone with low usage
- WAV056, replacing an under-utilised computer lab
Cope Auditorium
The Cope Auditorium has undergone a major refurbishment, including upgraded theatrical lighting, new seating with flexible writing surfaces and power, repairs and redecoration in the main auditorium, improvements to the backstage rehearsal spaces and redecoration of the lobby café areas, which are now part of the School of Design and Creative Arts.
This will provide a refreshed teaching environment with a capacity for 208 students. Out of core teaching hours, the Cope will continue to be used for student societies access and University events.
DigiLab Central
Opening in September, DigiLab Central will provide a range of specialist teaching and learning facilities, including:
- DLC001 – 3D Static Capture Studio
- DLC002 – 3D Motion Capture Studio
- DLC003 – Visualisation Theatre
- DLC004 – Drone Lab
- DLC005 – GPU Lab
- DLC006 – Recording Studio
- DLC101 – Esports Lab

Architecture discipline relocation
To enable these developments and to create a purpose built and co-located home for architecture students, the Architecture discipline has relocated to the Michael Pearson Building, where it will now occupy the entire first floor.
This provides four co-located studios, one for each part of the degree programme together with staff offices and learning zones for students and will allow us to respond to national changes in architecture programmes moving forwards. The Sports Technology Institute is now fully located on the ground floor of the building, adjacent to partners PING.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to colleagues in Architecture, Sports Technology Institute and PING for their cooperation and support throughout these moves.
Library study space improvements
Alongside the teaching space improvements, work is also underway on Level 2 of the Library to create additional student study facilities. The project will deliver 88 new and additional study spaces, supported by light touch renovation, new lighting, new furniture and enhanced Wi-Fi provision.
These projects have been delivered in a relatively short timeframe through the hard work and collaboration of many colleagues across the University. Particular thanks go to the Teaching Space Refurbishment Group, and in particular to Estates and Facilities Management Project Managers Shaun Green, Tim Oakey, Jacob Sanderson and Helen Sloss, supported by Rachel Curtis, for their excellent work and dedication in delivering these improvements.
We look forward to welcoming staff and students into these new and enhanced spaces from September.
