There is a real sense of community and family at Loughborough University, and our Faith and Spirituality Centre provides a peaceful place for our students to come and reflect, explore and express their faith and spirituality. It’s a place for you to pray, meditate and to meet others. You’ll find that both our London and Loughborough campuses are very inclusive.

Both London and Loughborough have a great selection of restaurants and supermarkets where you can buy lots of asian food. Although smaller than London, Loughborough has an Oriental Store in town (located opposite the Rushers bus stop), and there is also an aisle in Tesco with the name of “World Foods” which you can go to stock up on food such as cooking-sauces and rice. It is also rather simple to buy through online oriental stores as some may provide next-day delivery right to your doorstep!

There are also Halal butchers in Loughborough, and Halal food can also be sources in the supermarkets in town. In catered halls we are able to offer Halal meats as part of our food service. Halal meats are available from our approved suppliers and are certificated for identification. Those observing Ramadan can also contact their hall managers who will help with specific meal requirements.

We have over 100 clubs and societies for you to join in your spare time ranging from sports to religious societies. The LSU Malaysian and Singaporean Society is very popular with our students. Providing a home away from home for all Singaporeans, the LSU Malaysian and Singaporean society arranges and attends a variety of events every year, from day trips across the country, activity days, sports tournaments and the Loughborough Students Union international day, to weekly Badminton and Basketball sessions. This starts from before you arrive on campus - with meet ups and support back in Singapore before term begins. They also have a peer-mentoring system, where second years help our freshers settle in.

The Society also organise cultural activities and festival celebrations as well as regular cultural nights with home cooked Malaysian food. The most recent event featured delicious Mee Siam and traditional chicken curries. For more information, or to ask any questions about being a Malaysian in Loughborough, please contact the committee on msslboro@gmail.com.
