Asymmetric Bars
In many ways performances on the asymmetric bars in Women's Artistic gymnastics are similar to those performed on the high bar in Men's Artistic gymnastics. On both pieces of apparatus the gymnast performs circling skills, release and regrasp skills and a dismount. Giant circles are often performed before these skills to generate the necessary angular momentum and flight. However, the giant circle techniques adopted by female gymnasts differ from those of their male counterparts since they must incorporate strategies for avoiding the lower bar.
