Members of the University community and beyond are invited to show their support for this year’s arts scholars at a relaxed teatime event featuring live music and dance.

The Arts Scholars’ Showcase on Wednesday 6 May will feature the five scholarship winners for 2025-26. This year's winners come from a variety of subject areas and backgrounds, with a mixture of undergraduate and postgraduate, domestic and international students.

The showcase will include performances by rapper and singer-songwriter Kai Benjamin, dancer Eloise Mair and singer Cath Phillips. Creative writing scholar Neda Abbasimaleki will lead a short session reflecting on what home means as well as taking part in a Q&A to share her work and its themes.

Visual arts scholar Alex Whawell will be unveiling a new painting on the night as well as taking part in a brief Q&A. The new artwork will be on display in the foyer for you to enjoy before or after the showcase.

The Arts Scholarships are an extra-curricular award managed by LU Arts. They recognise and reward talent and commitment, and provide scholars with bespoke support to further develop their creative practice.

Each of the arts scholars has received tailored financial support to help them develop their practice over the course of the year, and this is a wonderful opportunity to bear witness to the hard work they have put in.

The showcase will take place in Martin Hall Theatre on 6 May at 5.30pm. Free refreshments will be served in Martin Hall foyer from 5pm, and the performance is expected to last for approximately one hour. It is a free event, but advance booking is recommended.

Book your place.
