This year, local organisations and charities received £12,000 from the Fund to contribute towards important projects and useful one-off purchases. The donations received are used for many different purposes, from running community outreach programmes to starting sports and culture projects. Recipients can also choose to buy supplies such as books, musical instruments, tents, or to help people from lower-income backgrounds to participate in activities.
Attendees made the most of the opportunity to build community by networking and sharing best practice, and watched presentations by Sense College, Serenade Choir, and LSU’s Soup Kitchen.
Jenny Ardley, Community Warden, said, “Congratulations to all our awardees this year – it was great to bring everyone together for connection opportunities. We are delighted to be able to support the community with such a wide range of activity that makes so many people’s lives better.”
The Open Fund is available to any local organisation that directly benefit local people and the local community. The Inside Out Fund is open to Loughborough University staff who are involved with the local organisations where they volunteer their time.
