LURA Strategy
The Loughborough University Research Academy (LURA) provides the strategic framework for strengthening research and innovation culture across the University.
The strategy aligns LURA's programmes and activities with the University's broader organisational context and strategic priorities. It sets out how LURA will support institutional ambitions by developing an inclusive, equitable and high-performing research environment in which all members of our research community can thrive.
It is supported by detailed operational plans that identify specific actions, success measures and performance indicators for each area of delivery.
Our Strategic Pillars
The LURA Strategy is under development, with six proposed Strategic Pillars that map to the University’s People and Culture Strategy and the Research and Innovation Culture Ambitions.
Culture and Inclusion
Foster a thriving research culture recognised as a top institutional priority.
People and Talent Development
Deliver comprehensive training and career development pathways.
Leadership Capability
Cultivate diverse and inclusive research leaders and innovators.
Partnerships and Engagement
Promote interdisciplinary collaboration and industry partnerships.
Evaluation, Processes and Data
Establish sector-leading measurement and assessment of research culture.
Infrastructure and Processes
Lead, manage, and co-ordinate development of the research community.
Driving positive change
Through the work of the team, development opportunities for the research community will be more visible, more structured, and easier to navigate. Engagement will be recognised in appraisal and career development, for example through personal development conversations with managers and supervisors.
The Academy supports measurable improvements in research capability, career development, diversity and belonging through a people-centred, interdisciplinary and data driven approach. This ensures that all members of the research community are empowered to thrive and contribute to meaningful societal impact.
