The next round of the Royal Society Wolfson Visiting Fellowship scheme opens in May 2026. This prestigious scheme provides an opportunity for outstanding international research leaders – including emerging and established leaders – to undertake a flexible 12‑month period of sabbatical leave at a UK university or not‑for‑profit research institution. The Fellowship supports the development of sustained international collaborations and strengthens the UK research and innovation base.
The IAS and Fellowships Team will be hosting a hybrid briefing session on Tuesday 12th May at 10am, to provide more information for colleagues who may be interested in the scheme, or who may be supporting a potential applicant.
The session will cover:
- An overview of the Wolfson Royal Society Visiting Fellowship scheme
- Eligibility and mobility rules
- Proposal structure and assessment criteria
- Institutional support available to applicants and supervisors
Full scheme details are available from the Royal Society website.
Arrivals from 9:45 am for a 10:00 am start.
This event is hybrid format, please use the required booking button at the bottom of the page to choose either in-person or online attendance.
(Please note that in-person spaces are limited and booking is required, so we can manage numbers for the space in the seminar room)
By booking a place at this event, attendees agree to behave in a respectful manner such that everyone feels comfortable contributing as they wish. The IAS reserves the right to eject anyone who does not abide by this policy.
IAS sessions are typically recorded. The recordings are then uploaded to our IAS YouTube Channel. If you are not able to attend a seminar live, please do still register for online attendance, as we will email everyone who registered to let them know once the recordings are made available.
