Wire Electro Discharge Machining

Wire Electro Discharge Machining (EDM) is machining technique used to section intricate patterns in hard specimens that would otherwise be hard to machine with traditional methods. It's ability to achieve a high level of surface finish in components down to a few microns in resolution.
The facility enhances the ability to section samples produced in AMPLab which can then be further analysed by the suite of techniques housed in LMCC allowing us to span the macro to micro scales.
Example applications
- Sectioning of additively manufactured hard materials
- Produces a high surface finish requirement
- Achieves complicated geometry of parts
