Research and expertise
Zijie is currently a Doctoral Researcher in the School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering at Loughborough University. His research focuses on the design and optimisation of traffic signal control systems for vulnerable road users.
His PhD explores the use of artificial intelligence and data-driven methods in adaptive traffic signal control, with a particular focus on vulnerable road users, including pedestrians and cyclists, and intelligent urban mobility.
Profile
Prior to joining Loughborough University, Zijie completed his BEng in Civil Engineering at the University of Mining and Technology, China, in 2022 and his Master’s degree in Railway Transportation at Guangzhou University in 2025.
His academic background covers civil engineering, transportation engineering and railway systems. His current research builds on this foundation to investigate intelligent and inclusive traffic signal control for urban road users.
