Ningyou Hou is a Research Associate in Information Management for People-Led Net Zero at Loughborough University. His work focuses on people-centred approaches to net- zero transitions, information management, and the role of systems modelling in supporting organisational decision-making across real-world test cases.
Ningyou undertook his PhD in Engineering at King’s College London, within the Department of Engineering and the Net Zero Centre, and was awarded the NMES PhD Scholarship. His doctoral research examined the transition from private car use to carsharing through behavioural change and systems thinking. Alongside his PhD research, Ningyou has contributed to engineering education and postgraduate pedagogies.
Ningyou’s research explores how people, information, and systems modelling interact in the context of sustainability transitions. His current work focuses on people-centred approaches to net-zero transitions, particularly how information, data, and system insights can be created, communicated, and adopted by diverse stakeholders to support organisational decision-making.
Main research interests
- Net-zero and sustainable transitions: understanding how people, organisations, and stakeholders engage with net-zero and sustainable transitions, and how decision-making can be better supported.
- Systems thinking and system dynamics modelling: using systems thinking and modelling approaches to examine complex relationships, feedback mechanisms, and long-term transition pathways in socio-technical systems.
- Sustainable transport and shared mobility: investigating the transition from private car use to carsharing, with a focus on behavioural change and service development.
