Ana Carolina is a doctoral researcher working in a multidisciplinary field, integrating Social Sciences, Urban and Transport Planning, and Statistics to better understand socio-spatial inequalities and accessibility patterns in cities. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism and a Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering from Brazil.
Currently, her PhD research investigates cycling accessibility for women, with a focus on historically marginalised groups. Her work analyses the intersectional dimensions of women’s access to urban opportunities such as work, education, and healthcare.
Her research has a strong interest in developing sustainable transport systems and promoting cycling, especially for women around the world, through decolonial, spatial justice, and equity perspectives.
Ana Carolina has experience teaching an Urban Design and Transportation Engineering class, focusing on digital tools such as AutoCAD and Photoshop. Her teaching approach aims to support students in developing technical skills while also fostering critical and constructive reflection on their design work, promoting active and participatory learning in urban and transport planning education.
