Dan is a post-doctoral researcher specialising in mental health in high performance environments. Dan has and continues to research a range of topics such as mental health, mental ill-health, gambling, concussion, sport psychology, intervention development and evaluation in contexts such as elite men’s and women’s sport and the military. Dan recently completed his PhD at Loughborough University exploring how best to support mental health within elite cricket from a multi-level approach. Dan has also completed two master's degrees at Loughborough (Sport and Exercise Psychology and Social Science Research) and an undergraduate degree at the University of Bath in Sport and Social Sciences. He has published several articles and has presented his research at conferences across the UK and internationally. Dan also has a keen interest and experience in participatory research methods and co-creation.

Dan's research focuses on mental health and wellbeing in sport and high-performance contexts, spanning both elite men's and women's sport as well as the military. He has particular expertise in the development, co-creation, and evaluation of mental health interventions, drawing on participatory and collaborative methodologies to ensure research is meaningful and impactful for the communities it serves. Dan's work to date has examined mental health and mental ill-health across a range of populations and settings, with notable contributions to understanding mental health in cricket, the professionalisation of women's sport, gambling behaviours in sport, and the effects of concussion. His research employs rigorous methodological approaches, including systematic review, Delphi methodology, and Participatory Action Research. He is currently working on three projects: (1) Exploring the relationship between gambling and sport, (2) Co-creation of a wellbeing tool within the RAF community and (3) Co-creation of Forces Families Resilience Programme.
