Replacement of Main Switch Panel Serving - S Building (021) & S Boiler House (123) - 17th - 30th August 2024

Posted: 18 July 2024

Description of the works

The existing age expired main electrical switch panel located in the S Boiler House Building, but serving the S Building is to be replaced summer 2024. The agreed electrical shutdown dates with the departments in the building are Saturday 17 August 2024, with an expected completion date no later than Friday 30 August 2024 (although if required we could work through to Sunday 1 September).

During this period, the building will be closed to staff, students, and visitors as there will be limited power in the building which has been retained for temporary services only. Please note the building will be locked.

Multi Storey Car Park 1 will still have lighting and be operational BUT car charging here will not be available during the shutdown period.

It has been agreed that if urgent access is required to the building that any personnel should contact Dave Travis to explain the need to enter the building. If Dave agrees with the request, he will let the contractor know via Ian Litchfield and an agreed time to visit between 1100hrs and 1200hrs on either Wednesday 21st or 28th August will be made.

I thank you all in advance for your cooperation during these works. We have considered all options and best dates to cause the least impact on university operations. If you have any concerns, please contact Ian Litchfield.

Timescale

Works to start on Saturday 17 August with completion expected Friday 30 August 2024.
