Description of the works
The works comprise repair & resurfacing of several campus roads and car parks which are potholed and required repair. Repairs are also taking place to footpaths and kerb stones.
The principal areas to be repaired in this phase of works are:
Resurfacing Works (29 - 31 July 2024)
Phase 20 - Brockington Building (007) Car Park. The car park will be closed from 29-31 July 2024.
Phase 23 - University Road Dual Carriageway close to the access gates. The area impacted is the roadway between the dual carriageway which is used to turn into the Multi Storey Car Park (207).
Phase 27 - University Road between Wolfson (065/050/027) and Sir David Davies Building (032).
Phase 32 - S Building Complex (021) between the footbridge and Multi Storey Car Park. This is a repair of a small scar in the road surface that is a tripping hazard.
Pavement/Footpath Repair Works (22 July - 9 August 2024)
Phase 33 - Repair the uneven footpath on University Road by the Business School (Sir Richard Morris) (069)
Various - Repairs to footpaths, lowered crossings, kerb stones etc. across campus.
No roads will be closed but there will be traffic management in place which may lead to short delays. The resurfacing contractor will work on only half a carriageway at a time to allow traffic to move around campus, and short road closures may be required when machinery is transferred to the other half of the carriageway.
Roads will be re-opened where possible once the top surface has been removed and projecting ironworks and edges will be made safe, but care must be taken.
Signage and traffic control will be placed in the immediate area of the road works, adjacent to where the operatives will be working. Please maintain a safe distance from the works. Operatives will wear hi-vis clothing and control road traffic on an as need basis.
Timescale
The footpath repair works will commence on 22 July 2024 with works to the University Road footpath close to the Loughborough Business School (Sir Richard Morris), and will then be at various locations across campus. These works will be completed by 9 August 2024.
The road resurfacing works will commence on Monday 29 July 2024 and be complete by 1 August 2024. Working hours are from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. Brockington car park will be closed for this period.
