Network downtime
IT Services will be carrying out scheduled essential maintenance on the Wi-Fi and wired network service from 7:30pm on Thursday evening. This is part of the ongoing work to increase the resilience of the campus network in relation to the previous failures two weeks ago.
At the start of the maintenance window, it is expected that locations across our campuses will experience a loss of wired and Wi-Fi network service initially for 20 minutes, followed by intermittent network connectivity up until 8.30pm.
Network Service update
IT Services, working with our supplier Cisco, continue to implement mitigations to reduce the risk of subsequent network failures. Whilst these measures have increased the stability of the network, and there have been no additional failures over the past 14 days, the situation remains under close observation.
It is likely that there will be additional planned maintenance and at-risk periods over the coming weeks. Advanced notice of future planned outages will be issued, and the frequency of outages will be kept at a minimum, to reduce the impact across the University.
