Throughout 2023 and 2024 IT Services will be migrating all University staff from the Cisco CallManager telephone system to Microsoft Teams. The Microsoft Teams platform is already in widespread use across the organisation and this change will integrate telephone functionality with the Teams software - supporting both internal and external calls.
How will this affect me?
If you spend the majority of your time working at a desk with a PC, your telephone will be replaced with a headset, and you will use the MS Teams software on your PC to make and receive calls.
You will retain your existing University telephone number and gain access to a new voicemail system integrated with MS Teams.
If you use Cisco Jabber to make and receive telephone calls, this functionality will be transferred to MS Teams.
If you job share or work in an environment where access to a physical phone is necessary, we may replace your existing Cisco telephone handset with a new device compatible with MS Teams.
When is this happening?
The changes will be rolled out across the organisation throughout 2023 and possibly into 2024, although disruption when your group is being migrated will be negligible.
