How to find a device's MAC address
Computers, tablets and phones
A MAC address is a unique code that identifies your device on a network — for example, your Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection.
Follow the steps below to find a Wi-Fi or wired MAC address for your devices.
Windows
Find Your MAC Address – Windows 11
- Open Settings → Network & Internet
- Select Advanced network settings
- Click Hardware and connection properties
Your Physical address (MAC) is shown for each network adapter.
Find Your MAC Address – Windows 10
- Open Network and Sharing Center
- Select Change adapter settings
- Right-click your network adapter → Properties
- Hover over the text under Connect using to see the MAC address
Each network adapter has its own unique MAC address.
macOS
Click the Apple menu → System Settings (or System Preferences on older versions)
- Click on the Apple icon in the menu bar and choose System Settings
- Click on Wi-Fi
- If you are connected to eduroam click on the Details button adjacent to it
- The MAC address is displayed as Wi-Fi Address
If the device isn’t currently connected to eduroam but the SSID is visible, you can still find the MAC address by going to the list of Known Networks, tapping the three dots in a circle next to eduroam, and selecting Network Settings. The MAC address will then be displayed under Wi-Fi Address
iPhone and iPad
Find Your MAC Address – iPhone & iPad
- Open Settings
- Tap on Wi-Fi
- Tap on eduroam
- The MAC address is displayed as Wi-Fi Address
If you're connected to eduroam, you can view your device’s MAC address by tapping on eduroam in your Wi-Fi settings.
If you're not currently connected but eduroam is visible in the list of available networks, tapping on it will attempt to connect you.
To view the MAC address without initiating a connection, tap the information icon (ⓘ) next to eduroam instead. If eduroam isn’t being broadcast at your location and doesn’t appear in the main list, you can still find the MAC address by tapping Edit, scrolling down to Managed Networks, and then tapping the information icon next to eduroam.
Android
Find Your MAC Address – Android

- Tap Wi-Fi.
- Tap the Wi-Fi network you're currently connected to.
