Be aware of limits and capabilities

Understand both the potential and the boundaries of AI to navigate its use effectively and responsibly.

Do

  • Exercise critical judgment: Critically evaluate AI-generated content. Don't take AI responses at face value—fact-check for accuracy.
  • Align expectations with reality: Understand and accept the current capabilities and limitations of AI for various tasks, acknowledging that these are changing.
  • Analyse for bias: Proactively identify and correct biases in AI-generated content to prevent the perpetuation of stereotypes.
  • Understand AI's analytical limits: Acknowledge that AI is not equipped to critically think or develop evidence-based arguments.
  • Stay informed on task suitability: Remain updated on the suitability of tasks for AI and how new advancements may alter this.

Don't

  • Over-rely on AI: Avoid depending solely on AI for tasks requiring deep understanding, critical analysis, or creative thought.
  • Neglect the human element: Do not disregard the value of human input, particularly in nuanced or sensitive scenarios.
  • Assume completeness: Don't take AI's output as comprehensive without considering the breadth and currency of its data sources.
  • Dismiss ethical considerations: Never overlook the ethical implications of using AI, especially in decision-making processes that affect human lives.
