There are several changes coming to this service to improve security, operations and supportability. The following provides key points on these changes:

-Extra Accounts

These user accounts will be retired and access to them removed. Users requiring enhanced permissions will be able to apply for a -Priv account. There will be stricter control surrounding access to these accounts to mitigate security risks.

Software Request Process

A new process to streamline access to software that is not readily available in Software Centre. The process will optimize software access and utilization, providing improved support and reducing the proliferation of like-for-like applications.

IT Hardware Policy

The implementation of a new approach to hardware management, ensuring devices are compliant, fit for purpose and can be supported throughout their lifecycle. IT services will be advocating a laptop-first approach to hardware provision to reduce the volume of desktops, improve sustainability and device utilization.
