Support from Academic Librarians
Academic Librarians are available to assist all University staff and students, offering specialist advice on any information related query and supporting the development of essential critical thinking and academic skills. Their guidance includes:
- developing effective and critical search strategies
- locating and interrogating information on a specific topic for assignments, research projects or literature reviews
- using specialist online search tools and databases to access diverse types of scholarship
- critically evaluating the credibility, authority, relevance and limitations of sources
- referencing, citation and using bibliographic management tools
- understanding the scholarly publishing landscape and making informed decisions about getting published
The Academic Librarians have all developed expertise in the subject areas of their Schools and are happy to help. In addition to dealing with enquiries, they offer individual appointments to support more in-depth or complex queries. Get in touch to arrange a meeting which can be held in person or via MS Teams.
