3x3 Wheelchair Basketball / 3x3 Basketball
Loughborough athletes won a total of five medals as the 3x3 Wheelchair Basketball and 3x3 Basketball came to an end on Wednesday evening.
There were golds for Jamell Anderson, Evan Walshe, and Lucy Robinson, with silver medals awarded to Thomas Harvey, Robyn Love and Kayli English. Scotland’s Kyle Jiminez also picked up a bronze.

Athletics
Loughborough once again underlined their credentials in global athletics with another two medals awarded at Glasgow 2026.
There were podium places for both Kevin Santos and Jade O'Dowda in another action-packed evening of finals.

Elsewhere, in the Women’s 200m heats, Abi Pawlett finished fourth in her heat in 24.60seconds. The alum has been carrying an injury and unfortunately wasn’t in the top 17 to qualify for the semi-finals.
Alum Jake Wightman recorded the second fastest heat time in the Men’s One Mile event. His 3:54.05 was easily enough to qualify for Saturday’s final, scheduled for 20:55 BST.
Loughborough-linked Zac Shaw went quickest in the Men’s 100m T12. Clocking an impressive 10.91 seconds, he’ll fancy his chances of gold in tomorrow’s final at 19:45 BST.
Alum Seamus Derbyshire made light work of the Men’s 400m Hurdles heats to qualify for the final in 48.74 seconds. He now has a realistic shout of a medal in Friday’s final, scheduled for 21:00 BST.
In the Men’s Long Jump, Regan Corrin scored 7.46m to finish tenth overall in the final.
Alum Cari Hughes recorded a national record for Wales in the Women’s 3000m Steeplechase final. Hughes crossed the line in an impressive 9:40.71.
Veteran Dan Greaves missed out on a medal by one position, finishing fourth in the Men’s Discus F42-44 / F61-64 final.
Swimming
On the final day of swimming action at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, Loughborough-linked athletes brought home a further two medals.
Alum Daniel Wiffen won silver in the Men’s 1500m while Adam Ramsay-Peaty and Luke Greenbank (heats) also took silver in the Men’s 4x100m Medley.

Elsewhere, current student Lucy Fox finished eighth in the Women’s 200m Butterfly final recording 2:12.18.
Over in the Men’s 200m Freestyle, current student Tyler Melbourne-Smith finished third in his heat to claim a reserve spot for Wednesday evening’s final.
In the Women’s 200m Breastroke, Alum Abbie Wood also claimed a reserve spot. Current student Asia Kent sadly won’t be in the final after finishing fourth in her heat.
Freya Colbert and Lauren Cox also finished fourth in the Women's 4x100m Medley Relay, just outside the medals.
Netball
In netball, England broke their record score in Commonwealth Games history after crushing Tonga, 94-32.
Lighting’s Ella Clark scored 12 goals in a match that saw fellow Loughborough-linked Jess Shaw and Fran Williams also feature.
All eyes will now be on the South Africa match tomorrow that will determine whether or not they reach the semi-final stage.
Over in Pool B, Jamaica made it three wins out of four after a tense 45-43 victory over Scotland. Former Lightning players Shamera Sterling-Humphrey, Rhea Dixon, and Brie Grierson all played for Jamaica. Ex-Lightning player Niamh McCall scored 21 goals for the Scots as they remain in fourth place in the Pool.
Boxing
Loughborough College alum Chantelle Reid stormed through to the semi-finals of the Women’s 70kg after a huge 5-0 victory over Northern Ireland’s Jansseen Hill.
Reid’s next bout will be against Australia’s Lekeisha Pergoliti on Friday.
