Returners
Welcome back to the University for the new academic year. The information on this page has been designed to support your return by giving you important information about re-registration.
Re-registration
Re-registration is the process of checking and confirming your personal details via the Student Self-Service facility before you return to start the new academic year. We will email you in early September when re-registration is open and it is important that you act by the given deadline.
If you are returning to your programme at the start of Semester 2 after a leave of absence, we will ask you to re-register in January.
Key points
- Re-registrations after Sunday 28 September 2025 for students returning for Semester 1 will be subject to a late re-registration fee (£100).
- Re-registration is still required if you are starting Part I, even if you are away from campus.
- There are some scenarios in which you will be “blocked” from re-registration (e.g. if you have outstanding financial obligations). When you try to access the re-registration facility, an appropriate message will be displayed which will explain what you need to do to resolve the situation.
- The online facility is available at all times, except between 23.00 and 23.30 BST each day. Please do not attempt to re-register during these hours.
- You do not need to be on campus to access this facility but will need to use MFA. Please be aware that the screens will show your personal data, some of which is potentially sensitive. Please be careful to shield your screen from third parties if you are in a public place.
- If you are expecting a maintenance loan from Student Finance, it is essential that you re-register by Wednesday 24 September 2025 as this is latest day we can confirm your registration to release funds to your bank account for the start of term. The University will continue to confirm registration to Student Finance on a daily basis but this will delay your loan payment.
Right to study checks
Re-registration is an online process and in most cases there is no need to attend any central re-registration event. However, if you have changed your visa since you were last on campus - e.g. you are a Student visa holder returning from a leave of absence - you must book an appointment for a new right to study check.
Replacement ID cards
If you have lost or damaged your student ID card, or your card has expired, you can obtain a replacement. There is a non-refundable fee for replacement cards where the original is lost or damaged.
Your key IT updates
Reconnecting your devices to eduroam Wi-Fi network
The security certificate used to connect your device to the university’s secure network (eduroam) expires annually.
This means you will need to re-onboard each of your devices every year.
New secure access to myLboro app
myLboro uses Single Sign-On (SSO) with your Loughborough University account for secure access. When signing in, use your Loughborough University email address and password. If you are accessing the app off campus (without using eduroam), you will be prompted to approve your sign-in through the Duo Mobile app. Please ensure you have set up Duo Mobile Multi-Factor Authentication.
Mail apps: University email
You can access your university email via the myLboro app, or by using Outlook on the web, desktop or mobile app.
From October 2026, some third-party apps, such as Apple Mail, may no longer work fully due to Microsoft changes.
When signing up for external websites and services, use a personal email address rather than your University account to ensure continued access after you graduate or leave the University.
We’ve upgraded the campus computer labs: What you need to know
Over the summer period, our computer labs were upgraded to the Windows 11 service to provide an improved user experience for students.
First time login
When you log in to a lab computer for the first time, your user profile is created. During this process, OneDrive will automatically sign in and begin syncing your files, with files downloading only when you open them. Please note that there is no automatic sign in on Mac lab computers, but you will be prompted to sign in to OneDrive after logging in.
We strongly recommend always checking that your files are safely stored in OneDrive before signing out of a lab computer.
For more information, please visit our introduction to OneDrive webpage.
IT support
The PC Clinic is a bookable service where you can choose a convenient time to get IT support for your personal devices.
