Dr Fred Dalmasso

MA Applied Storytelling Programme Director

Fred is a Performance Philosophy and Storytelling researcher and practitioner. He is the convenor of the Politicised Practice CoP, known for its international work on reimagining citizenship. His writings explore the politics of rhythm and how philosophy can be made accessible through the stage.

Reader in Drama

Catherine is a specialist in contemporary British and Irish theatre, as well as applied theatre for health and wellbeing. She teaches postgraduate arts management, community/applied storytelling, place-based performance, practical theatre and storytelling and leads the summer Major Project.

Professor Mike Wilson

Professor of Drama

Mike is Director of the Storytelling Academy and UNESCO Chair in Storytelling Education for Sustainability. His interests lie broadly within the field of popular and vernacular performance. His work explores storytelling as a democratic tool for engaging the public with major societal challenges.

Dr Avsar Gurpinar

Senior Lecturer in Conceptual Art and Speculative Design

Avsar is a scholar, designer and artist who teaches Speculative Futures, Critical Design and Urban Studies. He co-founded the Ambiguous Standards Institute (ASI), a collaborative, semi-fictional art and design research practice and has had work exhibited globally and acquired by major institutions.

Claire is interested in interdisciplinary modernisms, theatre history, and the intersection between sport and art, particularly those practices, like professional wrestling, that often slip down the gaps in terms of safety, legislation and policy.

Research Associate in Archiving and Preserving Open Access Books

Holly is a specialist in Immersive Digital Storytelling, with an interest in Open Research. She is a research associate for Open Book Futures. She has previously taught the MA module Digital Storytelling for Creative Practice.

Visual and participatory storytelling

Karen is a specialist in participatory storytelling and applied illustration with a special attention to grassroots communities and third culture identities. Karen is also a working illustrator in graphic facilitation and comics.

Senior Lecturer in Fine Art and Creative Writing

Ahren's research spans contemporary art, poetics and literary writing. His recent publications include 'I will pay to make it bigger' (Prototype, 2024) and 'I’m totally killing your vibes' (Bloodaxe, 2024). His work has been exhibited, screened and performed internationally.

Lecturer and Indie Documentarian

André teaches and consults in UX design and storytelling, organises SDCA’s annual UXathon with international start-ups and makes independent documentaries. He is a former graphic designer and journalist with a passion for visual storytelling and design.
