• Understand the publishing landscape and know exactly where your work fits.
• Build the skills for freelance and portfolio work, including in the heritage and cultural sectors.
• Use research imaginatively and effectively, developing ideas that can grow into major creative projects, perhaps your first novel or even doctoral work.
• Organise and deliver public events in the writing industries.
• Work confidently and independently to deadlines.
