Dr Glen Blenkinsop

Dr Glen Blenkinsop

Lecturer in Motor Control & Biomechanics of Sport

Programme Director for the Sport Biomechanics MSc, Glen’s research interests include the mechanics and neurological control of human movement, such as balance control in different postures, and understanding technique and injury mechanisms in track and field athletics.

Dr Sam Winter

Dr Samantha Winter

Senior Lecturer

Sam’s expertise is in biomechanics and specifically motion capture and movement analysis, simulation of muscle contraction, and techniques used to assess neuromuscular function such as electromyography and muscle stimulation.

Dr Matthew Pain

Dr Matthew Pain

Reader in Biomechanics

Matt's research interests are in developing a greater understanding of maximal volitional human performance during dynamic actions in sport and everyday living by studying the biomechanical, neuromuscular and neural factors that underpin such performance.

Daniel Fong

Dr Daniel Fong

Reader in Sports Medicine and Biomechanics

Daniel’s research focuses on sport-related ankle ligamentous sprain injury, using advanced forensic motion analysis to quantify the injury mechanism with biomechanics quantities. He also researches: knee biomechanics, sport medicine, slips and falls, orthopaedic devices and biomedical engineering.

Dr Sam Allen

Dr Sam Allen

Senior Lecturer in Biomechanics

Sam’s main research interests lie in the understanding of technique and its influence on performance and injury risk in running and jumping, using both experimental methods and computer simulation.

Prof Mark King

Professor Mark King

Professor of Sports Biomechanics

Prof King's research focuses on maximising performance and minimising injuries in sport. Partnering with the English Institute of Sport, The Lawn Tennis Association and others, he uses torque-driven computer simulation modelling to optimise human movement and model the transmission of force through

Dr Stuart Mcerlain-Naylor

Dr Stuart McErlain-Naylor

Lecturer

Stuart’s main area of research focus is the integration of wearable technology and musculoskeletal modelling to provide individual-specific estimates of post-impact loading on tissues during training/rehabilitation. Applications of this work include training load monitoring and prescription.

Dr Michael Hiley

Dr Michael Hiley

Senior Lecturer in Sports Biomechanics and Motor Control

Michael’s research interests are in the areas of biomechanics and motor control, investigating the mechanics of technique and how it is influenced by the human control system. He is particularly interested in how aspects of motor control influence and limit human performance.
