The Fine Art MA offers an intensive studio-based environment for artists seeking to extend, reconfigure and refine their contemporary practice. It supports work across disciplines including painting, sculpture, installation, drawing, printmaking, film and video, animation, sound, performance, community arts and digital practices.
Working within a dynamic studio culture, students are encouraged to test ideas, take creative risks and explore new processes across a wide range of media. This adventurous approach is further supported by generous studio spaces, excellent workshops and adept technical staff. Students will develop an advanced, independent and critically informed artistic position through sustained experimentation, technical development, practice-based research and reflective enquiry. Through engagement with contemporary art discourse and its wider social, political and global contexts, the programme supports artists in situating their work within broader cultural and professional frameworks.
Delivered over 12 months full-time or 24 months part-time, this exciting studio-based course equips participants with the confidence, critical awareness and professional skills required to sustain a contemporary art practice, work in the creative industries or progression to doctoral study.
