Compulsory modules

The aims of this module are to:

  • Embolden students to critically interrogate, extend and transform their established practice through sustained experimentation and methodological risk-taking.
  • Empower students to expand their technical, material and conceptual repertoire in contemporary fine art practice.

The aims of this module are to:

  • Develop systematic and critically informed understanding of research methodologies appropriate to contemporary Fine Art practice.
  • Facilitate students to critically evaluate and synthesise theoretical, historical and cultural frameworks, examining how these contexts inform and shape practice-based enquiry.

The aims of this module are to:

  • Develop students’ systematic and critically informed understanding of the theoretical, historical and cultural frameworks that inform contemporary Fine Art practice.
  • Equip students with advanced analytical skills to interpret and evaluate artworks, artistic practices and discourses thereby, enabling them to situate their own practice within relevant contextual, theoretical and historical frameworks.

  • Provide students with a framework to critically refine and advance their Fine Art practice through sustained studio inquiry, theoretical engagement, and reflective analysis.
  • Enable students to develop a coherent, critically informed and increasingly self-directed body of work.

The aims of this module are to:

  • Develop students’ systematic and critically informed understanding of professional practice within contemporary Fine Art.
  • Enable students to critically examine the professional, institutional and commercial contexts within which contemporary artists operate.

  • Support students in the resolution and refinement of a substantial and coherent body of studio practice.
  • Enable students to exercise independent judgement in responding to the conceptual, practical and professional demands of exhibition production.
  • Equip students with the skills to produce a public exhibition of professional standards.
