I chose to study supply chain management because I had an internship in a company in the automotive industry, and it was amazing to see how imports, supplier management, and demand could be handled. Trying to predict markets in such an uncertain world made the field very interesting, and I wanted to improve my expertise and strengthen my skills.
I already have a master’s degree in Morocco in logistics management, and I was looking for another master’s that included supply chain management but also combined data analytics, giving more depth in technical skills. I chose Loughborough University because it has a very good reputation in the UK. It is ranked among the top ten, and being part of the MIT SCALE Network was something I was aiming for.
My experience at Loughborough Business School has been really great and amazing so far. I love how the School supports you, and how professors and lecturers make sure you are aligned. It has been a great experience.
My original plan was to study in France, as many Moroccan students do. But I changed my decision and came to the UK because I believed I would have more global exposure here. I have always wanted to work internationally, and I felt this was the best place to study. Life in the UK has been really good so far. I’m learning about a new culture, meeting new people, and experiencing a multicultural country where you meet people from everywhere. It has been great.
Some of the highlights of the programme relate to how technical it is. As I mentioned, I always wanted to learn Python, go deeper into data analytics, and use different frameworks and software like SAS. The quantitative methods are very useful for building models or making predictions. And of course, there is the MIT Global Scale Network. We are going to Boston next January, which will be a great opportunity to learn, network, and meet people internationally, including cohorts in other SCALE locations such as Luxembourg and China.
Since joining the programme, I have received support from everywhere. Ken, the leader of our postgraduate programmes at Loughborough Business School, has been supportive. Our professors are welcoming and always invite us to visit their offices whenever we need something. We also receive support from the career centre for CVs and cover letters, from the library for research, and even from mathematical centres if we want to work on specific skills. It has been very helpful, and I am looking forward to collaborating with all these centres throughout the year.
Outside my studies, I have attended many careers fairs and networking events organised by Loughborough Business School and the University. These gave me the chance to connect directly with British employers, understand the UK job market, and learn about current trends. I have also joined extracurricular activities such as the Gliding Society. I have had flights, completed multiple glides, and we will be doing trips across the country. It has been very interesting.
My advice for anyone considering applying for the Master’s in Supply Chain Management at Loughborough Business School is based on my personal experience. I spent many days and nights searching, benchmarking, and comparing programmes not only in the UK but around the world. For me, this is the best programme I found. It combines theoretical and technical skills, and you study in both the UK and the US as part of the MIT Global SCALE Network.
It is a great, unique opportunity. Our programme is modelled on the MIT master’s, which is ranked first in the world in supply chain. It is very unique and, if you want to study supply chain management, Loughborough Business School should definitely be one of your top options.
Studying here definitely prepares you to work in supply chain management. The theoretical lectures and practical sessions are valuable, but the Capstone Project is especially important, as it prepares you for the job market. We will work with a company on real-world projects, so by the time we graduate, we will already have industry experience that helps us explore opportunities.
