Levelling Up
Key points
- The tutoring will be carried out virtually.
- Participants will be provided with a writing tablet.
- 22 tutoring sessions will be offered on a fortnightly basis during term time from April 2023 - May 2024.
- Each tutoring session will be 1.5 hours long.
The participants
The tutoring programme is available to students starting in their first year of post 16 (year 12) who are studying A Level Maths and meet the criteria outlined below.
Participants must
- Be living permanently in England
- Be under the age of 18
- Be in the first year of post 16 study (e.g. year 12 student) at the point of application
- Studying Maths at A-level.
- Currently attending a non-selective state school/college/sixth-form (i.e. they do not pay for their education)
If students meet all of these essential criteria, please look at the priority criteria below.
We will allocate places to students who satisfy the most of these priority criteria. We would be keen to work with you to help identify students who meet the criteria and can assist by looking up both POLAR and IMD data for relevant postcodes.
- POLAR 4 Q1 or Q2
- IMD Q1 or Q2
- FSM – currently in receipt of Free School Meals / Free Meals in further education or previously in receipt of Free School Meals
- No parental experience of HE
- Care - more than 3 months in care
- Caring responsibilities
- Have a disability or a long term health condition
- Estranged from family
- Recognised as a refugee, asylum seeker or have been granted humanitarian protection
