You will have the opportunity to take on a year-long industrial placement, giving you the chance to apply what you learn in a real work environment. Most placements are fully paid, with typical salaries ranging from £17,000 to £22,000.
You will be supported by a dedicated placements team who will help you find a role that matches your interests, skills and career goals. This hands-on experience gives you a clearer understanding of how the industry works, helping you make more confident decisions about your future career and the final stages of your studies.
During your placement year, you will be supported by both your employer and a University tutor. Your employer will assign a workplace supervisor, while your tutor will visit you on site and guide you through the academic side, including progress reports about your experiences and achievements.
While the department provides extensive guidance and preparation support, you’ll take responsibility for securing your placement through the application and interview process, helping you build independence and confidence for your future career.
Additional award
This course comes with the option to undertake an industrial placement for a year, at the end of which you will gain a Diploma in Industrial Studies (DIS). This is an additional award to the final qualification you will receive once you have successfully completed this course.
