When I was deciding where to study, reputation and student experience were the most important factors for me. Loughborough stood out because of its strong academic reputation and the incredible campus environment. I wanted a university that would give me more than just a degree, I wanted somewhere I could grow personally, academically and professionally. Looking back now, I know I made the right choice.
Starting university can feel overwhelming and I remember thinking about how to manage my academics and settle in socially. One of the most important things I learned early on was the value of planning. In the first few weeks, setting up a timetable made a huge difference.
University is a chance to be very independent, and no one is constantly checking up on you, so having a weekly schedule helps you stay on top of readings and lectures. Another tip I’d give new students is to look at coursework as soon as it’s released. Don’t wait until the last two weeks before the deadline, reviewing it early gives you time to understand what’s expected and plan your approach.
