Take a language module for credit
Loughborough University aims to offer all its students the opportunity to develop language and culture skills that will enhance their employability. Courses are taught by a team of tutors from around the world.
We offer French, German, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese at a range of levels, open to you whether you've never studied the language before or already have some experience with it.
Many degree programmes include the option to study one of these as a 10-credit module you can take alongside your main subject, with marks counting toward your degree.
Is this part of my programme?
Many degrees include language options, but availability varies by year and pathway. Check your programme structure to see how this applies to you. If a language module isn't available on your programme, you can still study one as an extra-curricular course.
Choosing your level
When you enrol, we'll ask about any previous experience of the language, so we can place you on the module that fits you best. What our classes are like
Classes are small, interactive, supportive, and focused on using the language in realistic situations. You'll get to know your teacher and classmates well over the semester and have the opportunity to learn in a range of ways. How to enrol
Most students: when it's time to pick your modules, select a language through the [online module choices platform - link] and answer the short questions about your prior experience.
If you can’t access the platform: contact your programme's administrative team. They'll confirm you're able to take one and pass your details to us.
