Who can make a nomination?
Any member of staff can nominate an individual or team that they believe deserves broader recognition! Nominations do not need to be submitted by a line manager or head of service.
When can I make a nomination for the Vice-Chancellor’s Awards?
- Nominations for the 2026 Vice-Chancellor’s Awards will open on Monday, 1 June, and will close at 6pm on Tuesday, 30 June.
- Nomination forms will be available shortly.
What happens after I nominate someone?
The VC Awards team will be in contact with the nominee (and the nominator) to let them know that they have been nominated and the outcome of this nomination. We are aiming for these communications to be shared at the start of August.
Are there any rules around nominations I should know?
- You can nominate any individual or team who is employed by Loughborough University (including Doctoral Researchers).
- Nominating yourself is not permitted.
- The work for which a person or team is nominated ought to have largely taken place in the last 12 months.
- The judging panel will not make a second award for submissions that are substantially the same as previously (winning) Vice Chancellor’s Awards nominations.
- Please do not exceed the word limit for nominations (500).
What sort of thing should I include in my nomination?
- Under each category and award, we’ve included a brief description of what the award is for. This can be accessed on the submit a nomination page.
- If you’re unsure of which category is the best fit for your nomination, please do utilise one of our drop-in sessions (see top of the page for details), or get in contact with the VC Awards project team.
- However, regardless of the category there are some key elements which will strengthen any nomination:
- The reason for your nomination and why you believe this person or team should win (supported by examples and evidence where possible).
- The impact of their work and any specific achievements.
- How this work supports the delivery of the University’s strategic aims.
- Who has/will benefit from the nominee’s work.
- Any challenges that were overcome as part of their work.
- How equity, diversity and inclusion has been considered and embedded in their work.
- Any examples of the University’s values in action.
