Fire Alarm Panel Operating Instructions
This document provides operating instructions for performing the weekly fire alarm test and resetting after a fire alarm activation on the MXPro5 fire panel.
Weekly Fire Alarm Test
Ensure that Security are notified before the test begins and again once the test is complete.
For further information on the weekly fire alarm test, please refer to guidance note:
1. Before the Test Begins
Before the test begins, the fire panel will be in normal mode:
The display screen is showing the home screen. The green power light is illuminated.
2. Isolate any plant
Isolate any plant (e.g., boilers, hot water systems) linked to the fire alarm system.
3. Activate an MCP
Activate a manual call point using the testing key.
The fire panel will now be in fire mode.
The display screen is showing the location of the activation. The red fire light is illuminated, along with the red zone number light on the right side of the panel.
4. Press "Silence"
Press the 'Silence' button
The fire panel will then request a password.
5. Enter Code
Enter 2000 using the number pad, followed by the ‘Tick’ (√) button, situated above.
6. Wait for the sounders to stop
Wait for the sounders to stop
The amber ‘Sounder Silenced’ light will be illuminated.
7. When the sounders have stopped
When the sounders have stopped, press the 'Reset' button
The fire panel will once again request a password.
Enter 2000 using the number pad, followed by the ‘tick’ (√) button, situated above.
The fire panel will then display this screen.
8. Press the ‘tick’ (√) button.
The display screen will show the home screen.
Re-Setting After an Activation
Once an investigation has been undertaken and it has been confirmed there is no fire:
- The display screen will indicate the location of the activation. The red Fire light will be illuminated as will the red zone number light.
- Press the ‘Silence’ button and repeat the steps listed above to reset the fire alarm panel.
Remember to reset any plant linked to the fire alarm as it may have tripped or isolated when the fire alarm activated.
If the alarm will not reset, investigate the area again. If the alarm is confirmed to be false, silence the alarm but do not reset it. Call Security and request that they contact the Duty Electrician.
Incorrect Code
If the 2000 code is entered incorrectly in error, press the ‘Tick’ (√) button. This will bring up the following message on the display:
This will then clear the numbers entered in error, enabling the correct code to be entered.
